HEART OF THE MATTER IMAGING FAQ
What is Ultrasound Imaging?
Ultrasound imaging, also called ultrasonography or diagnostic sonography, is a medical imaging technique which involves exposing part of the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures and video clips of internal body structures, and can be used to find disease pathology within the soft tissues, organs and blood vessels of the body. Ultrasound exams do not use ionizing radiation (x-rays) (CT scans) but instead uses high frequency sound waves captured in real-time to show the structure and movement of the body’s internal organs, as well as blood flowing through blood vessels.
Ultrasound scanning is noninvasive (no needles or injections) and is usually fast and painless to perform. Ultrasound is widely available, easy-to-use and less expensive than other imaging modalities.
Ultrasound exams offer the convenience of mobility. Machines are easily transported allowing for exams to be completed at your bedside.
Ultrasound causes no health problems and may be repeated as often as is necessary if medically indicated.

How do we schedule Heart of the Matter?
How do you charge for your services?
We provide a client insurance billing option for our physician practices. Offices may use their own billing staff to send out insurance claims directly for the ultrasound services completed, and we are happy to assist your team with coding information if necessary. Your office then pays us for the staffing of the technologist and equipment used for the imaging services provided.
